Inside a brand new take on a musical theatre mainstay!

Long-running Broadway smash A CHORUS LINE is a popular title among regional theaters around the world and a brand new Canadian production recently showcased a male actor in the leading role of Cassie, now referenced as Casey, and several videos of the cast discussing auditions in general and their participation in the production are now available to view along with rehearsal footage of the cast preparing the production, as well.

Of note, Blue Canoe Theatrical Productions in Kingston presented A CHORUS LINE earlier this month with the run wrapping up last night and the production notably featured actor Hunter Agnew as Casey as BroadwayWorld reported here.

In the new videos, cast and crew members Laila Kharouba, Peter Davidson, Ryan Cowl, Matt Salton, Kay Kenney and Grant O'Neil discuss their involvement with the show and auditioning in general.

Matt Salton, who played Zach, shares a fascinating story about auditioning for a high school production using the famous monologue given by Carrie's mother, played by Piper Laurie, in the iconic Brian De Palma film of CARRIE, adding another level to the gender-banding nature of the production.

Salton shares of auditioning, "So, here's this 14-year-old boy doing this monologue about being touched by this man with the stink of roadhouse whiskey on his breath and, 'I should have killed myself when he put it in me.' Just really no appropriate."

Salton adds, "The look on the director's face was just kind of like... 'OK, all right. Well, thank you.'"

Salton concludes, "He was like, 'You're very entertaining.' I didn't get the part."

The official description of Blue Canoe's A CHORUS LINE is as follows: "Blue Canoe's 30th Production and part of the The Kick & Push Festival. Blue Canoe is proud to present its 30th production, the winner of 10 Tony Awards including the Tony Triple Crown (Best Book, Score and Musical) and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. A Chorus Line takes you into the lives of 17 hopeful performers auditioning for a director who is looking to cast an all chorus show."

The official website also notes: "This production is performed by special arrangement with TAMS- Witmark Music Library, New York, NY, despite the best efforts of Bottle Tree."
