Zee Zee Theatre presents the world premiere of Dave Deveau's controversial and riveting new play, Lowest Common Denominator, which explores the world of intergenerational relationships and unleashes the darkness that exists just underneath a thin skin. Directed by Cameron Mackenzie, Lowest Common Denominator stars Deborah Williams, Dallas Sauer and Shawn Macdonald (and boasts a highly accomplished design team: Kyla Gardiner (Lighting Design), Sydney Cavanagh (Costume Design) & Marina Szijarto (Set Design)) and plays at the PAL Studio Theatre March 14-30, 2014.

From the company that brought you My Funny Valentine, Lowest Common Denominator centres around Harmony, who is trying to get back on her feet post-divorce, and who ends up on a blissful, booze-filled date with Peter, an insurance salesman. But when she walks in on her seventeen-year-old son Trevor kissing Peter, something changes in her, and the course of all three of their lives is set in motion - perpetually intertwined. Lowest Common Denominator is about the unconditional love of a mother for her son, and what happens when the safety of that love is challenged. This shows asks how intergenerational relationships work, what we do or do not understand about them and what pre-existing conceptions (or misconceptions) we may have.

Playwright Dave Deveau is an award-winning writer and performer. He is the Playwright in Residence for Zee Zee Theatre, who has produced his plays Nelly Boy, Tiny Replicas (GayVancouver's Top 10 Productions of 2011, now in development as a feature) and My Funny Valentine (Sydney Risk Prize, Jessie Nomination, Oscar Wilde Nomination - Dublin). He writes extensively for Green Thumb Theatre for whom his plays tagged and Celestial Being are touring this season. He curates Human Library for the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival where he is also the Youth Program Coordinator and is an Associate at Playwrights Theatre Centre where he is developing his new play (H)OUR. His play Extra Celeste is currently touring elementary schools through Theatre la Seizieme. Dave was recently included in Xtra's Top 30 Under 30 and OUTtv's Queers of the Year.

"She's a mother-bear mother. She's so clear on what her job is, this single job, this biological job. To the exclusion of everything else." -Deb Williams on her character, Harmony
