Concurrent with its production of The Grapes of Wrath, Asolo Repertory Theatre joins the National Steinbeck Center in celebrating the 75th anniversary of the publication of the original novel. In preparation for the anniversary, The Steinbeck Center has been seeking out the stories of individuals struggling against many of the same challenges so poignantly represented in this classic work, including financial insecurity, social discrimination, widespread unemployment and foreclosures, drought and other environmental crises.

To gather contemporary stories of resilience and migrations in hard times, curators from the National Steinbeck Center commissioned a talented group of artists to retrace the Joad family's journey.

National Steinbeck Center Executive Director Colleen Bailey and prominent playwright and director Octavio Solis join Asolo Rep for two special events. Both events are free and open to the public. No reservations or tickets are required.

Sunday, April 6 at 1pm on the Asolo Rep Mezzanine, prior to the 2pm matinee of The Grapes of Wrath.

Combining national and local perspectives, this panel discussion will include farm and labor issues from southwest Florida.

For more information about this event, please contact education@asolo.org or 941.351.9010 ext 3320.
