Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) presents a pair of toe-tapping, laugh-inducing productions this summer with Shrek: The Musical and Legally Blonde: The Musical, running July 11 - August 23, 2014 (performances alternate evenings) at Stanley Park's picturesque Malkin Bowl. A beloved Vancouver tradition since 1940, Theatre Under the Stars promises a blonde-tastic, ogre-ific season filled with surprise, delight, and non-stop fun for the entire family.

"Theatre Under the Stars brings together some of the most special and anticipated summer offerings, presented in the crown jewel of Vancouver. Family & friends, nature, picnics, culture, and community collide to create an encompassing, unforgettable experience in Stanley Park," says Naveen Kapahi, TUTS Board President. "More than just a night at the theatre, TUTS is a cherished annual tradition that hundreds of thousands of audience members have enjoyed through the years. We look forward to welcoming new patrons to the Malkin Bowl again this season and becoming a 'must-see' part of their summer traditions."

In its 2014 Season, the longstanding company will present two hit musicals adapted from blockbuster films:

Shrek: The Musical is a larger-than-life adventure that follows an unlikely ogre hero and his loyal sidekick Donkey on a quest to rescue the beautiful (if slightly temperamental) Princess Fiona. This infectious & fun-filled comedy is overflowing with spectacular visual effects, tongue-in-cheek humour, and unforgettable music.

The production is directed by Sarah Rodgers, and stars Matt Palmer (Shrek), Lindsay Warnock (Fiona), and Ken Overbey (Donkey).

Returning by popular demand, Legally Blonde: The Musical was the summer hit of 2013. When pretty-in-pink princess Elle Woods is dumped by her boyfriend Warner, she follows him to Harvard Law School to win back his heart. Full of irresistible song and breathtaking dance, this non-stop sugar rush of a musical teaches audiences that it's so much better to be smart than pretty.

The production is directed and choreographed by Valerie Easton and stars Jocelyn Gauthier (Elle), Peter Cumins (Warner), Scott Walters (Emmett), and Warren Kimmell (Callaghan).

Early Bird tickets are on sale until June 13! (tuts.ca/tickets)
