Quentin Tarantino's Academy Award-winning film PULP FICTION is coming to the stage! Qulum Entertainment will present the stage version at the University Theatre in Calgary, Alberta.

In a recent interview with the Calgary Sun, Producer Quintin Pomeroy revealed: "The elements that made Pulp Fiction one of the top five American films of all time are elements that work just as well on stage especially Tarantino's dialogue. We saw what a huge success Scorpio Theatre had with its production this year of Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs and we felt Pulp Fiction was an even better candidate for a stage version."

Publicist Brian Moore continued: "We discovered there was a very successful stage production of Pulp Fiction in Hawaii last year. We contacted that theatre and acquired their script by Nicholas Batres and Justin Banek but we saw the potential of making our production even better and much more exciting."

Opening night is set for Wednesday, August 13th 2014. For tickets, visit: http://www.wakeupthegimp.com/

Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American black comedy crime film directed by Quentin Tarantino, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Roger Avary. The film is known for its eclectic dialogue, ironic mix of humor and violence, nonlinear storyline, and a host of cinematic allusions and pop culture references. The film was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture; Tarantino and Avary won for Best Original Screenplay. It was also awarded the Palme d'Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival. A major critical and commercial success, it revitalized the career of its leading man, John Travolta, who received an Academy Award nomination, as did costars Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman.

Directed in a highly stylized manner, Pulp Fiction connects the intersecting storylines of Los Angeles mobsters, fringe players, small-time criminals, and a mysterious briefcase. Considerable screen time is devoted to conversations and monologues that reveal the characters' senses of humor and perspectives on life. The film's title refers to the pulp magazinesand hardboiled crime novels popular during the mid-20th century, known for their graphic violence and punchy dialogue. Pulp Fiction is self-referential from its opening moments, beginning with a title card that gives two dictionary definitions of "pulp." The plot, as in many of Tarantino's other works, is presented out of chronological sequence.
