Adobe Theater's 2014-15 Season to Feature FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, CURTAINS & More

The Adobe Theater announces the plays that will comprise the final production in 2014 and the first four shows in 2015. These plays are:

Forbidden Broadway created and written by Gerard Alessandrini. Directed by Art Tedesco. December 5 - 28, 2014

In this long-running Off-Broadway hit musical revue, Broadway's greatest musical legends meet Broadway's greatest satirist in this hilarious, loving, and endlessly entertaining tribute to some of the theatre's greatest stars and songwriters.

The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. Directed by George Williams. January 9 - February 1, 2015

The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail is an exciting, poignant, accessible, and intellectually engrossing play with several shifting and interpolated scenes from the real and imagined life of Henry David Thoreau (1817-62), the great nineteenth-century American author and poet-philosopher. The play is a dramatic representation of a vital moment in our history, in which the 29-year-old Thoreau's ardent refusal to pay taxes-in protest to the United States government's involvement in the Mexican War-landed him in prison in his home of Concord, Massachusetts.

In this new play, two brothers, who are holocaust survivors, own a struggling Jewish deli in New York. Not long after the play starts we hear of a new deli, a German deli, opening across the street from them. The play follows their struggles, and how the teenage son of one of the brothers absorbs the hate for the Germans, culminating in the boy blowing up the deli across the street. Based on a true story.

Curtains book by Rupert Holmes, Music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb. Directed by Jane & Cy Hoffman. May 15 - June 7, 2015.

This musical is a send-up of backstage murder mystery plots. It is set in 1959 Boston, Massachusetts and follows the fallout when the supremely untalented star of Robbin' Hood of the Old West is murdered during her opening night curtain call. It is up to Lt. Frank Cioffi, a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan, to save the show, solve the case, and maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself.
