So much happened before Dorothy dropped in . . . and you know what that means. That's right! WICKED is back in the Bay Area at Broadway San Jose, August 27 through September 14! So fly in on a broomstick, drop down in a house or float in on a bubble or a hot air balloon and get your tickets now!

WICKED is the magical untold story of two unlikely characters - the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the North. One -- born with emerald green skin -- is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious, and, well, very popular! Their heartfelt tale is filled to the brim with magic, laughter, and tragedy. On Broadway and around the world, WICKED has worked its magic on critics and audiences alike. Winner of three Tony Awards, WICKED is a must see for the whole family.

Hodges & Hodges Set the Stage: Wickedly Fun Things To Do Before the Show

The Wicked Witch ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

We think the number one thing for EVERYONE to do before seeing the show is to reenact the famous "I'm melting" scene of stage and screen with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge! Get a camera and a bucket of ice water, and act out the illustrious scene where Dorothy melts the Wicked Witch with a bucket of water - screams and all! It's a great way to donate for a good cause and get into the perfect mood for a fantastic night all at the same time.

See Idina Menzel, who originated the role of Elphaba, taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Popular

Just Tap Your Heels Together - If you want to be the best dressed person at WICKED then you have to start with the perfect pair of shoes. We recommend easing on down the road to Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse. You can find them at the Plant Shopping Center in San Jose or online, of course! They have some magical selections including a hodgepodge of ruby red delights that are sure to make you the most populer. . .lar. . . guy or gal at the show.

A Wicked Hairdo - You're going to need that perfect popular hairdo to match those fantastic new shoes, so Dollhouse Salon is the perfect place to go. With elegant designs fit for an evening in the Emerald City, it's the go-to hairdo spot! Go platinum blonde and be Glinda or ask for an emerald green streak in your hair in honor of Elphaba.

Be Seen in Green - Green is a fashion MUST for WICKED! Wear a green gown, green tux, green t-shirt or green make-up and make a true night of it at WICKED.

Munchkin Time!

Looking for a family friendly thing to do with the munchkins in your life? Grab the kids and visit the Happy Hollow Park & Zoo - Where Imagination & Reality Come to Play. Wicked is filled with flying monkeys, and life-sized talking animals so Happy Hollow Park & Zoo, with its lions, tigers and bears, is the perfect place to learn, laugh, and discover a love of animals - just like Elphaba.

Dancing Through Life (Remember, always drink responsibly - don't be brainless)

Have no lollipop guild to worry about? Try going out for a few drinks on show night. The Blank Club is the kind of hot spot that a young party animal like Fiyero would definitely recommend. With great music and a great vibe it's a great place to party.

If you're looking for something with a little more upscale then visit Single Barrel. They have inspired cocktails crafted under a master bartender, fine cigars, and Jazz era music in San Jose's SoFA district. Debuting in 2010 Single Barrel wants to give South Bay tipplers "an option with character and substance that dares to be different."

Don't want to go out? Throw a WICKED party instead! Hodges & Hodges have some amazing cocktails for you to try - but please drink responsibly! Our favorite green concoctions are listed below!

Defying Gravity

WICKED has a lot inspirational aspects that you can apply to your own life! How will you defy gravity and live the life of your dreams no matter what obstacles stand in your way? Make a dream collage and fill it up with pictures (you can find pics online or in old magazines) of what you want to do, be and have! Like Elphaba, be through accepting limits 'cause someone says they're so! Make the call, send the email, go to the audition, propose to the love of your life - in short - be bold - because until you try you'll never know.

What to Watch For

From Nick - We all love the original WICKED starring Idina Mendzel and Kristin Chenowith, and I know that when you've listened to the best of the best of the best, you can be a bit jaded. But I say go on YouTube and jam to as many different versions of Stephen Schwartz' WICKED songs as you can. Listen and enjoy, then come to the show and be prepared for an out-of-body experience with this excellent cast that we've heard so much about!

From Linda - In order for this production of WICKED to defy gravity there's got to be an almost electric chemistry between Elphaba and Glinda. They sing a lot together, so the harmonies have to be tight as well. Watch for their interplay and be ready for the ups and downs of their cyclonic relationship!
