Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community theatre company, follows up on the success of their critically acclaimed 2014-15 season opener Funny Girl with one of Broadway's most entertaining shows, The 39 Steps. Equal parts Hitchcock masterpiece and thrilling spy novel, The 39 Steps is a high-speed comedy smash hit that follows Patrick Barlow and John Buchan's iconic hero Richard Hannay as he finds himself embroiled in a riotous chase dodging police and charming ladies across England and Scotland. Winner of two Tony Awards and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, The 39 Steps blends virtuoso performances with wildly inventive stagecraft amounting to an unforgettable evening in the theatre. The 39 Steps will run October 16 - November 2, 2014 at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City). Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Press night for The 39 Steps will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014. Single tickets range in price from $23 - $42 and are available now by calling 650.349.6411 ext. 2 or visiting www.hillbarntheatre.org.

Says Hillbarn Theatre Executive Artistic Director Dan Demers: "I chose The 39 Steps for our 'Season of Awakening', because I wanted to further explore this notion of the human experience and how pivotal our decision are in dictating the paths that we are guided to take. The 39 Steps does just that; this is not your average play. Starring just four performers, these incredible actors play a whirlwind of characters in this high-speed comedy, all driven with the purpose of entertaining audiences and making patrons laugh."

Hillbarn Theatre's production of The 39 Steps features over 150 characters played by four actors led by Brad Satterwhite as Richard Hannay. Joining him are Elspeth Noble, Russell Ward, and Ross Neuenfeldt.

The creative team for The 39 Steps, led by director Hunt Burdick , includes scenic designer Steve Nyberg, costume designer Mae Heagerty-Matos, sound designer Alan Chang, hair and makeup designer Dee Morrissey and properties designer Rosita Issel.

Hillbarn Theatre would like to acknowledge its 2014-15 company sponsors: Foster City Islander, Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, Peninsula Beauty and Penelope's Coffee & Tea.

Hillbarn Theatre's 2014-15 season, "A Season of Awakening," will feature three iconic plays and three hit musicals. In addition to Funny Girl and The 39 Steps, the productions include: Irving Berlin's White Christmas (December 4 - 21, 2014), Amadeus (January 22 - February 8, 2015), Proof (March 12 - 29, 2015) and Curtains (May 7 - 31, 2015).
