On Saturday, November 15th, the arts community in Central Florida forever changed with the official opening of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. On that night, Broadway icon Richard Jay-Alexander brought together an incredible group of talent to unveil the Walt Disney Theatre with BROADWAY & BEYOND, and BroadwayWorld was there!

Edgewater High School (Orlando) graduate and Broadway's current Phantom of the Opera Norm Lewis, Disney's Little Mermaid Sierra Boggess, star of stage and screen Michael Urie, dramatic soprano Deborah Voigt, and many more stars were on hand to perform. In this edition of "But, Wait! What?" we have exclusive rehearsal footage and backstage interviews from BROADWAY & BEYOND.

The one-night-only show also featured 17-year-old viola prodigy Jeremy Green, the singing string quartet Will-Strung (check out exclusive rehearsal footage of their FROZEN mash-up here), the Broadway Kids (you can see exclusive coverage of them rehearsing a Sondheim classic here), NBC's THE VOICE and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA tour star Chris Mann, cabaret star Jane Monheit, Latin sensation Ektor Rivera, dance duo The Lombard Twins, six incredibly talented Central Florida kids, and the Orlando Philharmonic. Drama Desk winner Mary-Mitchell Campbell served as the event's Musical Director.

BroadwayWorld will have all sorts of coverage of the event over the next few days, so check out our Orlando page for more interviews, photos, columns, and features.
