The Bay Areas' longest running stage production of A Christmas Carol returns to the Notre Dame de Namur University Theatre for nine performances. Opening night is Friday, December 5. Tickets for all but one of the performances are given to the public as a gift. The musical is based on the story by Charles Dickens and features a musical score by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Mike Ockrent and Lynn Ahrens.
Over the past 28 years, The Gift has provided a professional caliber musical theatre performance of A Christmas Carol to the Bay Area community free of charge. The musical features a talented cast of over eighty performers, many with decades of experience on stage. Since its first presentation in 1985, over 150,000 people from all over the world have seen this spectacular musical performance presented by the Notre Dame de Namur University Department of Theatre and Dance and the Performing Arts Company. The production is staged through the efforts of a team of professional stage and music directors, choreographers, scenic, light, sound and costume designers and technicians. To help audiences get into the holiday spirit, the designers and volunteers have installed elaborate Christmas decorations outside the theatre and in the lobbies. Upon entering the theatre, audience members will be entertained by a choir of carolers before the performance.Videos
