Aux Dog Theatre to Present MR. BURNS, A POST ELECTRIC PLAY, Beginning 1/9

MR. BURNS, a post electric play by Anne Washburn will be directed by Victoria J Liberatori with musical direction by Nathaniel Flake for Aux Dog Theatre Company on January 9, 2015.

Featuring: Alisia Downing, Bridget Dunne, Fernando Gonzales, Hannah Guzman, Alissa Hall, Vincent Kirby, Grace Lapys, Patrick Maes and Jessica Osbourne.

What will endure when the cataclysm arrives-when the grid fails, society crumbles, and we're faced with the task of rebuilding? Anne Washburn's imaginative dark musical comedy propels us forward nearly a century, following a new civilization stumbling into its future. A paean to live theater, and to the resilience of Bart Simpson through the ages, Mr. Burns is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era might evolve into the mythology of another.

ALISIA DOWNING as Susannah / 2nd FBI Agent / Itchy

Alisia received a BA in Theatre from UNM. This is her first full production with Aux Dog. She was seen here last year in two productions of Love, Loss and What I Wore. She has spent the last year plus doing theatre in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe with Good People and Motherhood Out Loud with ForGiving Productions. Other time has been spent doing local film, when she played Vanessa in Her Time and as background for television being filmed locally: The Messengers, Better Call Saul and Dig.

BRIDGET DUNNE as Mrs. Krabappel/ Chorus

BRIDGET DUNNE Bridget has a BFA in Acting from VCU and is originally from Northern Virginia. Theatre credits include: Geralyn in Love Loss and What I Wore (Aux Dog), Catherine in Proof (Explora), Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice (Adobe), Woman in Woman and Scarecrow (Desert Rose Theater), and Recent Tragic Events (Aux Dog). Webisode Credits: Monsters Under the Bed (Uncanny Entertainment).

FERNANDO GONZALES as Gibson/ Homer/ Mr. Burns

Fernando Gonzales first took the stage with the Missoula Children's Theatre in 1985, and his passion for acting continues to this day unabated. He is excited to be in an Aux Dog performance and hopes, barring some sort of injury caused by an irate audience's hurled produce, to work with these fine people again in the near future. Theatre credits include: Victor in Private Lives. Audio Credits include over 50 audiobook/Books On Tape productions. He can also be heard on television and radio as one of the voices of the NMDOT, and in theaters as the narrator for the Albuquerque Film and Music Experience.

HANNAH GUZMAN as Quincy / Marge Simpson

Hannah is extremely excited to be back at the Aux Dog working with such a talented cast. She is a senior at the Bosque School. She has been performing in musicals in Albuquerque for 7 years, working with companies such as Bosque, Play Conservatory and MTS. Hannah appeared in two musicals at Stagedoor Manor, located in New York. Most recent credit: Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors (Aux Dog). She recently learned she was accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston.

ALISSA HALL as Colleen/Lisa Simpson

Alissa has performed for over 20 years, with companies such as New Mexico Civic Ballet, Ballet Theatre NM, Contemporary Dance Ensemble, Musical Theatre Southwest, Fusion Theatre and now for the first time with the Aux Dog Theatre Nob Hill in this production. When not onstage, she's probably shimmying in her kitchen, or painting henna designs for her clients. www.alissahall.com

GRACE GOMEZ LAPSYS as Colleen / Lisa Simpson

Grace is excited to be back at the Aux Dog after "The Jammer" as Cindy Gums (Aux Dog/Mother Road). Her theatre & film acting roles span from being a 13th century Chinese concubine in The Waiting Room, a Vietnamese bar girl in Ms Saigon, a retired assassin in Assassin Emeritus among others. When not acting on stage & film, Grace creates her own line of handmade european-style chocolates & confections with her own company, Joliesse Chocolates located in Los Ranchos/North Valley. She is married with two children and plans to attend Cannes Film Festival either as an actress nominee or as a demonstrating chocolatier.

PATRICK MAES as Sam / Homer Simpson

Patrick is enjoying a return to the stage, especially the musical stage. He is thrilled to be joining this super-talented cast and making his first appearance at the Aux Dog.

VINCENT MARCUS KIRBY as Matt/ Homer Simpson/ Scratchy

Vincent completed the BFA Program in Acting at UNM, continuing his studies at Hull University and took Summer Programs at Oxford School of Drama (Summer Program) Comedia Dell 'Arte and Clown courses in London during his time in the UK. Vincent expanded his skills at the dell'Arte School of Physical Theatre in Blue Lake, CA, later to enjoy Sue Morrison's Clown Through Mask in Toronto, Canada. Theatre credits Include: Billy Bibbit in One flew over the Cuckoos Nest (ALT),Pompey in Measure for Measure (Vortex), Dromeo of Syracuse in A Comedy of Errors (ALT), Father of the Bride in Plaza Suite and The School Master/ Inmate in Marat-Sade (Musical). Vincent is currently developing a performance in Clown, for people living with a disability or disease.

JESSICA OSBOURNE as Jenny/ Marge Simpson/ Bart Simpson

Jessica trained at Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts, London. Theatre roles include: Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors (Aux Dog), Gretchen in Boeing Boeing (Aux Dog), Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream (Santa Fe Shakespeare Society), Denise in Living Purgatory (Rodey Theatre, UNM), Beth in The Mistakes that Madeleine Made (Aux Dog) and Caliban in The Tempest (Bridewell Theatre, London. Film/TV roles include: Better Call Saul, The Messengers, The Amateur, The Man-App and Mickey. Also a stand-up comedian, she has been seen at The Comedy Store (LA), Santa Ana Casino (NM), Duke City Comedy League (TV series) and Dirty Bourbon. She is also an Aux Dog Theatre Company Artistic Associate and serves as Managing Director.

VICTORIA J. LIBERATORI, PRODUCING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Victoria Liberatori has been the Artistic Director of the Aux Dog Theatre Nob Hill since 2011 and assumed the title of Producing Artistic Director in late 2012. Originally from New York/ New Jersey, Victoria founded Princeton Repertory Company/ Princeton Rep Shakespeare Festival in 1984, a professional Actors' Equity theater company, located in Princeton, New Jersey. Princeton Rep was the first New Jersey theater to perform site-specific productions and to create a major free summer Shakespeare festival.

Her numerous directing credits include: Shakespeare's Macbeth, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing, The Comedy of Errors, The Taming of the Shrew and KIng Lear; contemporary work includes: Savage in Limbo by John Patrick Shanley, Goblin Market by Polly Pen and Peggy Harmon, Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) by Ann-Marie MacDonald, Recent Tragic Events by Craig Wright and Boeing Boeing by Marc Camoletti, among many others.

NATHANIEL FLAKE, MUSICAL DIRECTOR

A predominantly self-taught musician, Nathaniel has played around 30 instruments in classical and theatrical productions throughout school and his 10-year tenure with the L'arc en Ciel Theater Group in Indiana. He worked with them in varying roles from musician to vocal director to music director in multiple productions prior to his arrival in Albuquerque in 2013. Most recent credit: Music/Pianist in Little Shop of Horrors (an Aux Dog Theatre/Enchanted Rose Theare Co-Production).

Previous credits include: Jesus Christ Superstar, Guys and Dolls, The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Pippin, Nunsense, Godspell, My Fair Lady, Something's Afoot, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, to name a few. He is looking forward to continuing his musical work as a way to broaden his experience and enrich local culture. Nate is very excited to be back at the Aux Dog Theatre for Mr. Burns and is thrilled to now be an Aux Dog Theatre Company Member/Artistic Associate.

ANNE WASHBURN, WRITER

Anne Washburn's plays include The Internationalist, A Devil at Noon, Apparition, The Communist Dracula Pageant, I Have Loved Strangers,The Ladies, The Small and a transadaptation of Euripides' Orestes. Her work has been produced by 13P, Actors Theater of Louisville, American Repertory Theatre, Cherry Lane Theatre, Clubbed Thumb, The Civilians, Dixon Place, Ensemble Studio Theater, The Folger, London's Gate Theatre, NYC's Soho Rep, DC's Studio Theater, Two River Theater Company, NYC's Vineyard and Woolly Mammoth. Awards include a Guggenheim, a NYFA Fellowship, a Time Warner Fellowship, Susan Smith Blackburn finalist, and residencies at MacDowell and Yaddo. She is an associated artist with The Civilians, Clubbed Thumb, New Georges, and is an alumna of New Dramatists and 13P.

MICHAEL FRIEDMAN, COMPOSER

At Playwrights Horizons: Saved, The Drunken City, Spatter Pattern. Michael wrote music and lyrics to Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, which recently played at The Public Theater and on Broadway (Outer Critics Circle Award, Lortel Award.) As an Associate Artist with the acclaimed theater company The Civilians, he has written music and lyrics for Canard Canard Goose, Gone Missing, Nobody's Lunch, This Beautiful City, In the Footprint, and The Great Immensity, and co-created the groups 2012 TEDX Talk. With Steve Cosson, he is the co-author of Paris Commune (BAM Next Wave Festival 2012). Upcoming: Love's Labours Lost with Alex Timbers for Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte, and an adaptation of Jonathan Lethem's Fortress of Solitude with Itamar Moses and Daniel Aukin, which will premiere at Dallas Theatre Center in 2013. He was the dramaturg for the recent Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun,and has been a MacDowell Fellow, a Princeton Hodder Fellow, a Meet The Composer Fellow, a Barrob Visiting Professor at the Princeton Environmental Institute, and an artist-in-residence at Spring Workshop Hong Kong. An evening of his songs was featured in Lincoln Center's American Songbook series, and he received an OBIE Award for sustained achievement.
