FACING EAST, a new musical based on the play of the same name by Carol Lynn Pearson, will make its official World Premier in Vancouver, BC as part of Fighting Chance Productions' 2015-2016 season. The production will run April 26-May 15, 2016.

Featuring music by David Rigano, with book and lyrics by Mark-Eugene Garcia, FACING EAST follows an upstanding Mormon couple faced with the suicide of their gay son. When they unexpectedly meet his partner, they must face a reality long ignored and reconcile their feelings and beliefs.

Following two workshops in Chicago, and Dallas, the Vancouver production will be the first fully-staged production of the piece. The mounting is a partnership between producers Nathan Gardner, and Fighting Chance Productions. The two previously partnered on the Canadian regional premier of CARRIE: THE MUSICAL.

"I was incredibly impressed with the work and dedication Fighting Chance brings to the table," Gardner said. "The creative environment in Vancouver, and the collaborative nature of FCP was exactly what we were looking for in a partner company for the first production of FACING EAST. I look forward to working with them again."

Fighting Chance's Artstic Director Ryan Mooney adds: "After 8 years and 35 productions I feel that FCP is finally ready to tackle an original work. Hearing and reading the beautifully delicate FACING EAST, I knew that it was a perfect fit for us. Not only am I thrilled to be presenting this wonderful story - but I'm even more excited that Vancouver audiences will be among the first to share in this wonderful story."

Mooney will direct the production. Adam C. Wright, who musical directed the show's Dallas workshop, will serve as Musical Supervisor. Orchestrations are by Daniel Klintworth. Associate producers are Deborah Barrigan, Danny Brooke, and Sean Bryan. Further creative team members, as well as casting will be announced soon.
