SouthWest Rural Theatre Project to Bring Victorian Melodrama to Albuquerque, Santa Fe

The SouthWest Rural Theatre Project (SWRTP) announces its newest original Melodrama, written and directed by Leslie Joy Coleman, I Do, I Do, Too-Doo or The Heart House Home for Gals, which will be presented at both Albuquerque and Santa Fe venues in March, 2015.

Premise: The Heart House Home for Gals, a haven for homeless, single girls in the 1890's, is operated by Madam Heart, a protective, no-nonsense leader. The ladies residing in the home are preparing a dance revue to earn money and attract eligible bachelors. Ebony Tresses, the villainess in this production, has other plans that must be stopped before their reputations and the integrity of the Heart House is ruined. Will Ebony succeed in her evil plot before our heroes, Bernard Brain and Sherriff West C. Hollister, can save the day? Supporting this action are the other gals in the home: The heroine, Clarisse Clearwater, who carries a torch for Bernard; The feisty Spanish bombshell, LaLa Lolita; and Polly Esther, a loving Gypsy Belly Dancer. The Heart House Home for Gals' patron, Easter B. Chaiste, a lonely but kind spinster, pays a surprise visit just in time for the final rehearsal of the biggest dance revue ever presented at the Heart House. Come and cheer for the hero, sigh for the heroine, boo, hiss and throw family-friendly projectiles at the villainess. This highly entertaining show, packed full of music, comedy and dance, is one that you will not want to miss!
