The award-winning Marilyn Maye appeared 76 times on "The Tonight Show" starring Johnny Carson - the record for a singer. She is a highly praised singer, actress, director, arranger, educator and a musical treasure. Marilyn began her professional singing career at the age of 15 and has been committed her entire life to the art of song and performance. During her eleven-year engagement at the Colony in Kansas City, she was "discovered" by Steve Allen who was the first to present her various times to a national television audience. The Steve Allen performances led her to an RCA recording contract and appearances in prestigious New York clubs such as The Copacabana, The Living Room and The Rainbow Grill. She was a constant presence on numerous television shows including "The Ed Sullivan Show," "The Hollywood Palace," "The Merv Griffin Show," "The Joey Bishop Show," "The Dick Cavett Show," "The Mike Douglas Show" and others. Perhaps the simplest Marilyn Maye accolade came after one of her show-stopping appearances on "The Tonight Show" when turning to his audience of millions, Johnny Carson said, "And that, young singers, is the way it's done."

When The Arts Council of The Smithsonian Institution included her RCA recording of "Too Late Now" in their significant album of the 110 Best American Compositions of the Twentieth Century, her place in popular music history was assured.

Ms. Maye's RCA recordings consist of seven albums and 34 singles including the first hit recordings of "Cabaret" and "Step to the Rear." You may remember her singing "Step to The Rear" as the national commercial theme for Lincoln Mercury. Her album of great ballads, "The Lamp Is Low," arranged and conducted by Peter Matz, is considered a classic. Her versions of "Guess Who I Saw Today" and "Take Five" are noted as 'timeless' by jazz critics.

Among her many symphony concert appearances around the United States, she has joined The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall for tributes to Stephen Sondheim and Frank Loesser. Her two performances received show-stopping applause and rave reviews.

Ms. Maye's 64 engagements in the last nine years in New York include sold-out multiple-nights at the Metropolitan Room, Birdland, five two-week runs at Feinstein's at The Loews Regency Hotel, New York's Town Hall, the 92nd Street Y Theater and 54 Below.

In May 2014, Ms. Maye presented her "Tribute to Johnny Carson" performance at New York's 54 Below for five standing-room-only performances. She repeated this show at 54 Below by "popular demand" June 26 -28.

Since celebrating 2015 at the Metropolitan Room again this year and an additional 9 sold-out nights thru January 11th, 2015, Marilyn has performed her "In Love Again" show at Birdland, February 10 thru the 14th.

Maye's starring roles in theater include Mame, Hello, Dolly, Follies and Can Can. Her recorded album "Marilyn Maye Sings All Of Hello, Dolly," with liner notes by composer Jerry Herman, has been released as one of her six current CDs along with "Rapport," "The Singing Side of Life," "Maye Sings Ray (Charles)," "Super Singer," "A Tribute to Johnny Carson."

Marilyn's "The Art of Performance" at Rose Hall was reviewed by Wall Street Journal's Will Friedwald who wrote "The great cabaret singer doesn't just reach out to an audience - she overwhelms it with a song, but in the hippest, most swinging way imaginable. Ms. Maye has become a must-see singer in New York. Her show is all dramatic entrances, climaxes and big closers with no fillers."

Quotes Stephen Holden, New York Times, "She has more voice and stamina than most singers half her age. Her voice is full and rich and perfectly in tune, and she displays a voluptuous enjoyment of singing."

From coast to coast Ms. Maye conducts her master classes, "The Art of Performance," for those who have a love for the song. She shares her technical and performing skills learned from the experiences of her lifelong career.

Rex Reed, New York Observer, "Her show is not to be missed... It's a master class in singing conducted by a polished pro who majored in 'unforgettable.' She makes you think of forgotten words like 'craft' and she handles a room like a political candidate."
