This work of intertwining monologues explores human rights and environmental issues around the world especially in relationship to human-made tragedies and their aftermath. These readings are an initiative of NoPassport (www.nopassport.org) for Human Rights International reading scheme. The play centers on stories from the United States, Nigeria, Syria, Malaysia, sub-Sahara, and Venezuela. (read...)

Adobe Theater's NICKEL AND DIMED Begins Tonight

(9/12 at 12:30 AM) - When a middle-aged scientist goes undercover to experience low paying jobs she learns about 'Not Getting by in America'. Working as a maid, a waitress, and an 'associate' at Mall Mart led Barbara Ehrenreich to her best-selling book Nickel and Dimed and then to the play of that name by Joan Holden. Starting tonight, September 12th, The Adobe Theater will present this dramatic work, directed by Brian Hansen. A number of actors will portray a wide variety of characters as Colleen McLure (most recently seen in Lend Me A Tenor at The Adobe and in Juno And The Paycock at The Vortex) playing 'Barbara' attempts to make ends meet while phoning her boyfriend to assure him she is managing okay (even when she isn't). Black Box Theatre's ROCKET MAN, 'MUSIC NIGHT' Seek House Managers For This Weekend

(8/28 at 7:32 PM) - Typical of his entire life, Donny Rowan has been pressing the same crosswalk button at the same traffic light on the same street corner for 20 years. Finally, after placing all his possessions on his front lawn with a sign reading 'Here's my life, make me an offer,' he attaches that same button to the easy chair in his attic and uses it to take him into an alternate universe. Steven Dietz's 'Rocket Man,' which opens August 29 and continues through September 14, 2014 at the Black Box Theatre, 430 N. Downtown Mall in Las Cruces, details his entertaining and engaging journey.
