Staircase Theatre Presents MOVIN' ON UP Staged Readings Today

(8/23 at 12:30 AM) - Staircase Theatre presents Movin' On Up-Staged Readings. In its inaugural year, Movin' On Up will feature two brand new one act plays by two local, emerging (and very talented) playwrights, Scott Button and CR Packer. Scott Button's play, Better is a claustrophobic thriller and a dissection of class in our contemporary world. Better features Vancouver theatre veterans, Dawn Petten and Katherine Venour. CR Packer's play, Avril, Finally revolves around a funeral and three men brought together in unlikely circumstances. Avril, Finally features the talents of Sebastian Kroon, Byron Noble and Robert Salvador. The two plays will be directed by local directing star, Chelsea Haberlin. Movin' On Up-Staged Readings takes place at the CBC Studio 700 today, August 23rd, 2014. (read...)

Quentin Tarantino's PULP FICTION Finds a Home on Stage in Calgary

(7/22 at 11:11 AM) - Quentin Tarantino's Academy Award-winning film PULP FICTION is coming to the stage! Qulum Entertainment will present the stage version at the University Theatre in Calgary, Alberta. In a recent interview with the Calgary Sun, Producer Quintin Pomeroy revealed: 'The elements that made Pulp Fiction one of the top five American films of all time are elements that work just as well on stage especially Tarantino's dialogue. We saw what a huge success Scorpio Theatre had with its production this year of Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs and we felt Pulp Fiction was an even better candidate for a stage version.' (read...)

ONCE is a show performed by actor/musicians who can tell stories, create nuanced characters and make music and movement together as an ensemble. Each performer must be proficient at playing a musical instrument, or, put another way, each musician must be a skilled actor who can disappear under the skin of another character. (read...)
